Target Information
The tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor superfamily consists of type I integral membrane glycoproteins sharing cysteine-rich extracellular domains. Members include TNF-RI, TNF-RII, and CD40. Ligands can be secreted proteins such as TNF or membrane proteins like CD40L. Activation of TNF-R or CD40 induces NFκB nuclear translocation. TRAF family members (TRAF1–4) are involved in this process. TRAF4, originally termed CART1, is expressed in breast carcinomas and localized to the nucleus.
