Target Information

Atezolizumab is a fully humanized, engineered monoclonal antibody of IgG1 isotype against the protein programmed cell death-ligand 1 (PD-L1).
It blocks the interaction of PD-L1 with PD-1 and CD80 (B7-1) receptors.
PD-L1 is often highly expressed on certain tumors, reducing activation of cytotoxic T-cells that would otherwise attack cancer cells.
Inhibition of PD-L1 by atezolizumab removes this suppression, enabling an anti-tumor immune response.
This mechanism represents a key strategy in immune checkpoint inhibition research.
