Target Information
PRUNE2 gene (also known as BMCC1) encodes the protein prune homolog 2. PRUNE2 overlaps with PCA3, one of the most prostate cancer–specific markers. It may play an important role in regulating differentiation, survival, and aggressiveness of tumor cells.
PRUNE2 is highly expressed in the nervous system (brain, cerebellum, and spinal cord) and in certain cancer cell lines such as neuroblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, melanoma, and osteosarcoma. Expression is lower in liver, breast, thyroid, and colon cancer cell lines.
The calculated molecular weight of this protein is 340 kDa.
