Target Information
MAPK3 (ERK1) is a serine/threonine kinase that acts as an important activator of p90, RSK, MSK, ELK1, and Stat3, and plays a key role in the MAPK signaling pathway.
ERK1 is widely expressed and involved in regulating meiosis, mitosis, and post-mitotic functions in differentiated cells. It is activated by various stimuli such as growth factors, cytokines, viral infection, and G protein-coupled receptor ligands.
Activated ERK1 translocates to the nucleus to phosphorylate nuclear targets, influencing cell proliferation, differentiation, and cell cycle progression.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different protein isoforms of ERK1 have been described.
