이 효소는 5-메틸시토신(5mC)을 5-하이드록시메틸시토신(hmC)으로 전환시키며, hmC는 염색질 구조 조절, 특정 인자 모집, 또는 시토신 탈메틸화의 중간체로 작용할 수 있습니다.
