Target Information
CD13 (ANPEP) is a 150–170 kDa type II transmembrane zinc-binding ectopeptidase expressed on various cell types.
It functions as a metalloprotease that removes neutral amino acids from small peptides, influencing activation or inactivation of bioactive peptides.
CD13 plays roles in extracellular matrix degradation, antigen processing, signal transduction, inflammatory responses, intercellular contact regulation, cell motility, and vascularization.
It is expressed by granulocytes, monocytes, myeloid leukemia cells, and is associated with poor prognosis in carcinomas.
CD13 also serves as an aminopeptidase enzyme and acts as an alpha receptor for coronavirus.
