The Human SAA Simplex ProcartaPlex Kit measures SAA protein and is designed to be combinable with other Simplex kits, allowing creation of customized multiplex panels utilizing Luminex xMAP technology for protein detection and quantitation. When combining multiple Simplex kits, only one buffer kit (sold separately) is required per assay plate regardless of plex size.

About ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform

ProcartaPlex immunoassays are based on sandwich ELISA principles, using two highly specific antibodies binding to different epitopes of one protein to quantitate multiple protein targets simultaneously on a Luminex instrument.
These assays require as little as 25 μL of plasma or serum, or 50 μL of cell culture supernatant, and deliver analyzed results in about four hours.

ProcartaPlex assays utilize Luminex xMAP (multianalyte profiling) technology for simultaneous detection and quantitation of up to 80 protein targets in a single sample.
Each bead in the assay is internally dyed with precise proportions of red and infrared fluorophores, creating spectrally unique signatures identifiable by Luminex systems (e.g., Luminex 200, FLEXMAP 3D, MAGPIX).

Similar to a sandwich ELISA, matched antibody pairs identify the target protein. In multiplex assays, each spectrally unique bead is labeled with an antibody specific for one protein target. Bound proteins are detected using biotinylated antibodies and streptavidin–R-phycoerythrin (RPE).
Unlike traditional ELISA, the capture antibody in ProcartaPlex assays is conjugated to a bead rather than adsorbed to the microplate well, allowing reagents to remain free-floating in solution for improved multiplexing efficiency.

Detection is performed by Luminex instruments using two lasers: one distinguishes bead signatures, and the other quantifies RPE fluorescence proportional to protein concentration.
ProcartaPlex multiplex assays can profile multiple target proteins using significantly less sample and time compared to traditional ELISA.

ProcartaPlex multiplex panels are available for multiple species (human, mouse, rat, nonhuman primate, porcine, canine).
