Target Information

RUVBL2 possesses single-stranded DNA-stimulated ATPase and ATP-dependent DNA helicase (5′ to 3′) activity. It is a component of the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase complex involved in transcriptional activation of select genes via acetylation of nucleosomal histones H4 and H2A. This modification can alter nucleosome–DNA interactions and promote association with other transcription-regulating proteins.
The NuA4 complex contributes to transcriptional programs related to oncogene-induced growth, tumor suppressor-mediated arrest, senescence, apoptosis, and DNA repair. RUVBL2, in association with RUVBL1 and EP400, plays a critical role in these processes and in oncogenic transformation by MYC as well as transcriptional modulation by the LEF1/TCF1-CTNNB1 complex. It may also inhibit ATF2 transcriptional activity.
