Syntrophin alpha-1 (Dystrophin, SNTA1)는 근섬유의 내부 표면에서 발견되는 큰 막대 모양의 세포골격 단백질입니다. Duchenne 근이영양증 환자에서는 Dystrophin이 결핍되어 있으며, Becker 근이영양증 환자에서는 감소된 양으로 존재합니다. 이 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 주변막 단백질로서 Dystrophin 및 관련 단백질과 연관되어 있습니다. 해당 유전자는 최소 두 개 이상의 구조적으로 관련된 유전자를 포함하는 syntrophin 유전자군의 구성원입니다.
