Target Information

CXCR5 (C-X-Chemokine Receptor Type 5, CD185), also known as Burkitt lymphoma receptor 1 (BLR1), belongs to the CXC chemokine receptor family.
It is a G protein-coupled seven transmembrane receptor for chemokine BLC and is specifically expressed in Burkitt’s lymphoma and lymphatic tissues such as lymph node follicles and spleen.

CXCR5 plays an essential role in B cell migration and has been reported in various human tissues including blood and salivary gland, as well as in animal lymphatic organs, bone marrow, brain, liver, lymph node, skin, spleen, stomach, and tonsil.

G-protein Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) form one of the largest families of signaling molecules, sharing a seven membrane-spanning helix structure. They exist in both active and inactive forms and participate in signaling via G-proteins and downstream effectors.

Research on GPCRs continues to drive pharmacological studies for new drug candidates, with well-known GPCR-targeted drugs such as Zyprexa (Eli Lilly) and Claritin (Schering-Plough).
