A-kinase anchor proteins (AKAPs) are structurally diverse proteins that bind to the regulatory subunit of protein kinase A (PKA), localizing the holoenzyme within specific cellular regions.
This gene encodes a member of the AKAP family that anchors PKA in ciliary axonemes, potentially regulating ciliary beat frequency.
Alternate transcriptional splice variants encoding different isoforms have been characterized.
