Target Information
During mitosis, the cell’s microtubule network forms the mitotic spindle for chromosome segregation. Kinetochores on centromeric chromatin enable proper attachment of chromosomes to spindle microtubules.
The spindle and kinetochore complex (SKA1, SKA2, SKA3) is essential for stable KT-MT interactions and timely anaphase onset.
Depletion of SKA1 or SKA2 disrupts KT localization of both proteins without affecting KT structure, causing prolonged checkpoint-dependent metaphase delay.
SKA2 also interacts with glucocorticoid receptors, playing a role in glucocorticoid signaling and cell proliferation.
