Target Information
C1orf57 (also known as nucleoside triphosphate phosphohydrolase) belongs to the THEP1 NTPase family. It and its mouse homolog (2310079N02Rik) are 190 amino acid proteins exhibiting nucleotide phosphatase activity toward ATP, GTP, TTP, CTP, and UTP. Acting as a monomer, it can also hydrolyze nucleoside diphosphates with lower efficiency.
The human C1orf57 gene is located on chromosome 1, the largest human chromosome containing about 3,000 genes and accounting for approximately 8% of the human genome. Various diseases are associated with chromosome 1, including Hutchinson-Gilford progeria (LMNA gene), familial adenomatous polyposis (MUTYH gene), Stickler syndrome, Parkinson’s, Gaucher disease, and Usher syndrome.
