Target Information

Transcriptional coactivator for CREB1 that activates transcription through both consensus and variant cAMP response element (CRE) sites. Functions as a coactivator in the SIK/TORC signaling pathway, active when dephosphorylated and independent of CREB1 Ser-133 phosphorylation. Enhances CREB1 interaction with TAF4 and regulates CREB-activated genes such as the steroidogenic gene StAR. Acts as a potent coactivator of PGC1α and inducer of mitochondrial biogenesis in muscle cells. In the hippocampus, contributes to maintenance of late-phase long-term potentiation (L-LTP) and may be required for dendritic growth of developing cortical neurons. Along with SIK1, regulates light-induced entrainment of the circadian clock by coactivating CREB-mediated transcription of PER1, essential for photic entrainment.
