Target Information
Nestin is a Class VI intermediate filament protein abundantly expressed in the developing central nervous system (CNS) and in early embryonic neuroepithelial stem cells. It is widely used as a marker for stem/progenitor cells, glioma cells, and tumor endothelial cells. Nestin serves as a superior angiogenic marker for evaluating neovascularity in tumors. Specific antibodies to human Nestin are valuable for characterizing progenitor cell differentiation, enhancing therapeutic potential in CNS disease models, and identifying neuroepithelial tumor cells. Expression has also been observed in pancreatic hematopoietic stem cell populations and proliferating endothelial cells in colorectal cancer tissue.
