Target Information

The FBXO8 gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family, characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid F-box motif. These proteins are part of the ubiquitin protein ligase complex SCFs (SKP1-cullin-F-box), which function in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination. F-box proteins are divided into three classes:

• Fbws: containing WD-40 domains
• Fbls: containing leucine-rich repeats
• Fbxs: containing other interaction modules or no recognizable motifs

The FBXO8 protein belongs to the Fbxs class. It has a C-terminal region similar to yeast Sec7p, a regulator of vesicular protein transport, and may interact with ADP-ribosylation factors (ARFs) to exhibit ARF-GEF activity.
