Target Information
This gene encodes an activating transcription factor belonging to the ATF subfamily and bZIP (basic-region leucine zipper) family. It regulates downstream gene expression involved in growth, survival, and other cellular processes. The protein is phosphorylated at serine 63 by multiple kinases, enhancing its transcriptional activity and cell transformation potential. Gene fusions with FUS (chromosome 16) or EWSR1 (chromosome 22) can produce chimeric proteins associated with angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma and clear cell sarcoma. A pseudogene exists on chromosome 6.
