Target Information
The A4GALT gene encodes a type II membrane protein located in the Golgi apparatus. This enzyme catalyzes the transfer of galactose to lactosylceramide to form globotriaosylceramide, identified as the P(k) antigen of the P blood group system. It is also essential for the synthesis of the receptor for bacterial verotoxins.
