Target Information
ARHGAP20 is a potent GTPase-activating protein (GAP) that converts Rho-type GTPases into an inactive GDP-bound state. It contains a pleckstrin homology (PH) domain, a Ras-associating domain, a Rho-GAP domain, and two Annexin-like (ANXL) repeats.
ARHGAP20 acts as a downstream target of Rap1 in neurite outgrowth, where its overexpression promotes neurite extension by inactivating Rho in a Rap1-dependent manner.
It functions as a tumor suppressor gene, inactivated by deletion in breast cancer and chromosomal translocation in B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Additionally, ARHGAP20 may participate in cytoskeletal rearrangements and signaling events during spermatogenesis.
Expression is predominant in human brain, liver, ovary, and spinal cord, with low expression in lymph nodes and fetal liver.
