This antibody has specificity for Human GPX1.

Target Information

Glutathione peroxidases (Gpxs) are ubiquitously expressed proteins that catalyze the reduction of hydrogen peroxides and organic hydroperoxides by glutathione.
There are several isoforms differing in primary structure and localization:

• GPx1 (cGPx): Cytosolic/mitochondrial, selenium-dependent enzyme, first discovered GPx family member.
• GPx2 (GI-GPx): Expressed in gastrointestinal epithelium.
• GPx3 (pGPx): Extracellular plasma enzyme mainly expressed by the kidney.
• GPx4 (PH-GPx): Reduces hydroperoxides in membranes and lipoproteins.
• GPx5 (eGPx): Epididymis-specific secretory isoform.

All mammalian GPx family members, except for Cys-containing GPx3 and GPx5, possess selenocysteine at the active site.
