Target Information
Apoptosis (programmed cell death) is associated with various diseases, including cancer. It is triggered by stimuli such as TNF family members and can be inhibited by IAP (inhibitor of apoptosis) proteins.
BRUCE, also known as BIRC6, is a member of the IAP family containing both BIR (baculoviral inhibition of apoptosis protein repeat) and UBCc (ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2 catalytic) domains.
BRUCE regulates p53 and the mitochondrial pathway of apoptosis by facilitating the ubiquitination and degradation of apoptotic proteins such as Caspase-9 and SMAC.
