The immunogen is a purified recombinant extracellular fragment of human ERBB3 (aa22–369) fused with hIgGFc tag expressed in HEK293 cells.
MA5-15536 detects ERBB3 with a predicted molecular weight of approximately 148 kDa.
Target Information
ErbB3 (c-erbB-3/HER-3) is a member of the type I family of growth factor receptors that binds to ligands in the heregulin family.
ErbB3 is over-expressed in various tumors including prostate, bladder, breast, stomach, pancreas, and colon.
Heregulin and EGF stimulate tyrosine phosphorylation of c-erbB-3 to different extents.
The ErbB3 gene is located on chromosome 12q13 and encodes a 160/180 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein receptor tyrosine kinase.
It forms heterodimers with other EGF receptor family members, activating pathways for cell proliferation or differentiation.
Alternative splicing generates different isoforms, including a secreted form that modulates membrane-bound ErbB3 activity.
Additional splice variants have been reported but are not fully characterized.
