Target Information
Msi2 (musashi homolog 2), also known as MSI2H, is a 328 amino acid RNA-binding protein localized in the cytoplasm and containing two RRM (RNA recognition motif) domains. It is expressed ubiquitously at low levels and plays a role in regulating mRNA translation, contributing to stem cell proliferation and maintenance in the central nervous system. Msi2 is phosphorylated posttranslationally and upregulated in response to brain injury, suggesting involvement in tissue regeneration. Chromosomal aberrations involving Msi2 are linked to chronic myeloid leukemia progression. Multiple isoforms exist due to alternative splicing.
