Target Information
CD13 (ANPEP) is a 150–170 kDa type II transmembrane zinc-binding ectopeptidase expressed on various cell types. It acts as a metalloprotease that catalyzes removal of neutral amino acids from small peptides, thereby modulating bioactive peptide activity.
CD13 plays roles in extracellular matrix degradation, antigen processing, and signal transduction, contributing to inflammatory responses, intercellular contact regulation, cell motility, and vascularization.
It is expressed by granulocytes, monocytes, and myeloid leukemia cells, associated with protection against apoptosis and poor prognosis in carcinomas. CD13 also functions as an aminopeptidase enzyme and serves as an alpha receptor for coronavirus.
