Target Information
Alpha-2-adrenergic receptors (ADRA2A) are members of the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily.
They include three highly homologous subtypes: alpha2A, alpha2B, and alpha2C.
ADRA2A mediates the catecholamine-induced inhibition of adenylate cyclase through G protein action.
These receptors play a critical role in regulating neurotransmitter release from sympathetic nerves and adrenergic neurons in the central nervous system.
