Product Specific Information

The 53-7.3 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD5, a 67 kDa protein expressed by most thymocytes, mature T cells, and a subset of B cells. CD5 expression in B-1 cells defines a distinct lineage of B cells. CD5 functions as a counter-receptor for CD72 and plays a role in T-B cell interactions.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes at ≤0.25 µg/test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Antibody titration recommended for optimal performance.

Compatibility Notice:
NovaFluor dyes are not compatible with DNA intercalating viability dyes (e.g., propidium iodide, 7-AAD, DAPI). Use Invitrogen LIVE/DEAD Fixable Dead Cell stains instead.

CellBlox Plus Blocking Buffer (Cat. No. C001T06F01):

• Required for optimal staining with NovaFluor conjugates
• Add 5 µL per sample to antibody cocktails before combining with cells
• For single-color controls, use 5 µL per 100 µL of cell sample (10³–10⁸ cells)

Based on Phiton™ technology using nucleic acid dye structures for engineered fluorescent signatures minimizing spillover and spread impacts.

Target Information

CD5 is a 67 kDa single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein found on human T lymphocytes, thymocytes, and certain B cells. It regulates T-cell proliferation and is expressed in most T cell leukemias and lymphomas. CD5 dysfunction is associated with thymus cancer and Richter’s Syndrome.
