The immunogen is purified recombinant rat prohibitin protein.
Target Information
Prohibitin is an evolutionarily conserved gene product ubiquitously expressed in cells. It acts as a negative regulator of cell proliferation and may function as a tumor suppressor. Mutations in the PHB gene have been associated with sporadic breast cancer. Prohibitin exists as two transcript variants with different 3′ untranslated region lengths. The longer transcript is more abundant in proliferating tissues and cells, suggesting a regulatory role as a trans-acting RNA.
