Target Information

Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides.
They range in molecular weight between ~40 kDa and ~68 kDa, with isoelectric points between 4.9 and 7.8.
Individual human cytokeratins are numbered 1–20 and are expressed in specific epithelial types, often correlating with maturation or differentiation states.
Cytokeratin expression patterns assist in distinguishing epithelial malignancies and are valuable tools in immunohistochemistry, cytopathology, and flow cytometry.
