Target Information
EEF2K is a highly conserved serine/threonine kinase involved in the calmodulin signaling pathway. Its activity is increased in cancers, including breast cancer.
EEF2K regulates protein synthesis by controlling peptide chain elongation. Upon activation by upstream kinases such as AMPK or TRPM7, EEF2K phosphorylates elongation factor EEF2, preventing its ribosome binding and reducing protein synthesis rate.
