EPHB4는 ephrin receptor family에 속하는 receptor tyrosine kinase로, 신경계 발달, 혈관신생, 시냅스 형성과 성숙 등 다양한 생물학적 과정에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
Ephrin 리간드는 구조와 서열 유사성에 따라 ephrin-A (EFNA)와 ephrin-B (EFNB)로 구분되며, 각각 GPI-anchored 및 transmembrane 형태를 가집니다.
