Target Information

GAPDH (Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase) is a catalytic enzyme involved in glycolysis. It exists as a tetramer of identical 37 kDa subunits and catalyzes the reversible reduction of 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate to glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate in the presence of NADPH.

Beyond glycolysis, GAPDH is ubiquitously expressed and participates in multiple cellular processes such as:

• DNA replication and repair
• Nuclear RNA export
• Membrane fusion and microtubule bundling
• Gene expression regulation during apoptosis
• Cellular mechanisms in neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s)

GAPDH also associates with actin and tubulin and serves as a reliable loading control in Western blot analysis due to its stable expression across tissues.
