Target Information
SIM1 and SIM2 genes are homologs of the Drosophila single-minded (sim) gene.
SIM1 transcript was detected only in fetal kidney among various adult and fetal tissues.
Since the sim gene plays a key role in Drosophila neurogenesis, human SIM genes may be involved in facial and cranial dysmorphisms, brain development abnormalities, and/or mental retardation associated with Down syndrome.
