Product Specific Information
For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
Ep-CAM (epithelial adhesion molecule, ESA) is a transmembrane glycoprotein (~40 kDa) expressed in epithelial tissues.
It functions as a calcium-independent cell adhesion molecule and influences cell cycle, proliferation, and metabolism through induction of c-myc, cyclin A, and cyclin E.
Ep-CAM-mediated adhesions negatively regulate cadherin-mediated adhesions, affecting epithelial differentiation and growth.
Overexpression is associated with enhanced epithelial proliferation and is highly expressed in human carcinomas, serving as a marker for epithelial lineage tumors.
Ep-CAM is found on basolateral surfaces of most simple epithelia and many carcinoma types, and helps distinguish adenocarcinomas from pleural mesotheliomas.
