Target Information

CD45RA is an isoform of the CD45 complex expressed selectively among lymphoid cell subtypes. CD45 (leukocyte common antigen) is a receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase present in all nucleated hematopoietic cells and constitutes about 10% of lymphocyte surface proteins. It regulates Src-family kinases, influences antigen signaling, and plays a role in lymphocyte development.
CD45 isoforms differ by alternative splicing in extracellular domains but share identical transmembrane and cytoplasmic regions. These isoforms vary in membrane domain localization and expression depending on cell type and physiological state.
Beyond immunoreceptor signaling, CD45 modulates integrin-mediated pathways and participates in apoptosis-related DNA fragmentation. It is expressed in hematopoietic cells except mature erythrocytes and absent in other differentiated tissues.
CD45 dysfunction is associated with severe combined immunodeficiency and Hepatitis C.
