Target Information
CXCR1 is a member of the G-protein-coupled receptor family. This protein acts as a receptor for interleukin 8 (IL8), binding IL8 with high affinity and transducing signals through a G-protein activated second messenger system. Knockout studies in mice suggest that CXCR1 inhibits embryonic oligodendrocyte precursor migration in the developing spinal cord. The CXCR1 gene (IL8RA), along with IL8RB and its pseudogene IL8RBP, forms a gene cluster on chromosome 2q33–q36.
