Lecithin: cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT)는 인간 혈장에서 HDL 콜레스테릴 에스터 대부분을 형성하는 효소입니다. CETP를 가진 종에서는 VLDL 및 LDL 콜레스테릴 에스터의 일부도 생성합니다. LCAT는 콜레스테롤의 에스터화를 통해 말초 조직에서 간으로 콜레스테롤을 이동시키는 역콜레스테롤 수송 경로에 관여합니다. LCAT 결핍은 혈장 HDL 수치 감소를 유발하며, 과발현은 HDL 농도를 증가시킵니다.
