Target Information
Surfactant protein A (SP-A) is an innate immune system collectin. The gene encoding SP-A maps to mouse chromosome 14. SP-A plays a role in innate host defense in the lung and is also expressed in the Eustachian tube. The frequency of specific SP-A haplotypes and genotypes differs between children with recurrent otitis media and control populations.
