Target Information
The hnRNP M gene belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). These RNA-binding proteins form complexes with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA) and are involved in pre-mRNA processing, mRNA metabolism, and transport. While most hnRNPs are nuclear, some shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. The hnRNP M protein contains three quasi-RRM domains that bind RNA and functions as part of the N-acetylglucosamine-specific receptor, which may play a role in recycling immature GlcNAc-bearing thyroglobulin molecules. Multiple transcript variants are generated through alternative splicing.
