Target Information
Heat shock proteins (HSPs) are highly conserved and abundantly expressed proteins involved in protein folding, transport, and complex assembly. They are categorized into six families: HSP 90, HSP 70, HSP 60, low molecular weight HSPs, immunophilins, and HSP 110.
The low molecular weight HSP family includes HSP10, HSP20, HSP27, HSP32, and HSP40.
Chaperonins, such as GroEL and GroES (HSP10) in E. coli, assist in ATP-dependent protein folding.
HSP10 forms a heptameric ring of identical 10 kDa subunits that binds to each end of GroEL, creating a symmetric, functional heterodimer.
