Target Information
The activation of gene transcription is a multistep process triggered by transcription factors that recognize enhancer sites in DNA. These factors cooperate with co-activators to direct transcriptional initiation by RNA polymerase II. The protein encoded by this gene is a subunit of the CRSP complex, required for efficient activation by SP1, and is also part of other multisubunit complexes such as thyroid hormone receptor-associated proteins. It contains a bipartite nuclear localization signal and is known to escape chromosome X-inactivation.
