Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between approximately 40 kDa and 68 kDa, with isoelectric pH between 4.9 and 7.8.
Each cytokeratin subtype is expressed in specific epithelial types and reflects the degree of maturation or differentiation.
Cytokeratin subtype expression patterns are widely used to distinguish different epithelial malignancies.
Cytokeratin antibodies are valuable tools for tumor differential diagnosis (immunohistochemistry), cytopathology, and flow cytometric assays.
