PUM1 (pumilio homolog 1)는 mRNA의 3'-UTR에 결합하여 전사 후 억제(post-transcriptional repression)를 수행하는 RNA 결합 단백질입니다. PUF family에 속하며, 진화적으로 보존된 RNA 결합 단백질 군에 포함됩니다.
PUM1은 Pumilio Response Element (PRE, 5'-UGUANAUA-3') 서열에 결합하며, 이는 Nanos Response Element (NRE)와 관련이 있습니다. CCR4-POP2-NOT deadenylase 복합체를 직접 모집하여 번역 억제 및 mRNA 분해를 매개합니다.
유전자 변이는 spinocerebellar ataxia 47을 유발할 수 있습니다.
