TMOD1 유전자는 tropomodulin 단백질 계열에 속하며, actin-capping 단백질을 암호화합니다. 이 단백질은 tropomyosin의 N-말단에 결합하여 actin 필라멘트의 탈중합과 신장을 억제함으로써 적혈구 세포골격의 구조를 조절합니다. 이 유전자는 동일한 단백질을 암호화하는 여러 전사 변이체를 갖고 있습니다.
