Target Information
GATA binding factor 5 is a transcription regulator involved in embryonic development. It contains two GATA-type zinc fingers and binds to hepatocyte nuclear factor-1alpha (HNF-1alpha). This interaction is essential for cooperative activation of the intestinal lactase-phlorizin hydrolase promoter. GATA-5 may play a role in the establishment of cardiac smooth muscle cell diversity.
