Target Information
Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and is vital for brain development. Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene have been associated with tumors such as anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer. Chromosomal rearrangement often results in a fusion gene combining ALK and the nucleophosmin (NPM) gene. The NPM-ALK fusion product is oncogenic. ALK encodes a receptor tyrosine kinase with transmembrane and extracellular domains, showing high sequence similarity to LTK, and plays an important role in neuronal development.
