Recombinant Murine LIF is a 19.9 kDa protein containing 180 amino acid residues, including three disulfide bonds.

Target Information
Leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is a 20 kDa protein that belongs to the IL-6 receptor family. It binds to a heterodimeric membrane receptor composed of a LIF-specific subunit (gp190 or LIFR) and the shared subunit gp130.
LIF is expressed in various tissues such as thymus, lung, and neuronal tissue, and can be up-regulated by pro-inflammatory cytokines including TNFα and IL-17. Elevated levels are observed in rheumatoid arthritis, neural injury, systemic inflammation, and tuberculosis.
LIF is well known for inhibiting mouse embryonic stem cell differentiation and supporting stem cell self-renewal. Human and mouse LIF share 79% sequence homology with cross-species activity, though differentiation inhibition is mouse-specific.
