Product Specific Information
For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step (e.g., Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
CD30 (Ki-1, TNF Receptor Superfamily Member 8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the TNF receptor superfamily. It was first identified as a surface antigen of Hodgkin’s and Reed-Sternberg cells using monoclonal antibody Ki-1.
CD30 binds to its ligand CD30L (CD153), mediating diverse effects such as cell proliferation, activation, differentiation, and apoptosis. It plays a critical role in Hodgkin’s disease and other CD30⁺ lymphomas, functioning as a costimulatory molecule in thymic negative selection.
CD30 expression is observed in Hodgkin’s and Reed-Sternberg cells, certain non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas (e.g., Burkitt’s lymphoma), virus-infected T/B cells, and activated normal T/B cells. In T cells, CD30 is expressed on subsets producing Th2-type cytokines and on CD4⁺/CD8⁺ thymocytes co-expressing CD45RO and IL4 receptor.
The soluble form (sCD30) serves as a marker for Th2 immune response. CD30 interacts with TRAF2 and TRAF5, activating NF-κB signaling, and acts as a positive regulator of apoptosis, limiting autoreactive CD8 effector T cell proliferation. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
CD30 is expressed by mononuclear cells in Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Reed-Sternberg cells, and most Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphomas (ALCL), as well as embryonal carcinomas.
