Target Information
Skp2 (S-phase Kinase-associated Protein 2) is a member of the F-box protein family that interacts with the Cyclin A-Cdk2 complex. It is essential for the G1-S transition in both transformed cells and diploid fibroblasts. Skp2 is required for the ubiquitination and degradation of p27 in mammalian cells. In normal tissues, Skp2 is expressed in tonsil and placenta, while in tumors it is widely expressed, including in colon, prostate, pancreas, and skin cancers, with high levels in lung, breast, ovarian, and endometrial cancers. Research indicates that Skp2 contributes to oncogenesis, particularly in lymphomas and breast cancers.
