This antibody detects endogenous levels of Atg14 only when phosphorylated at Thr429.
Target Information
ATG14 (Autophagy related protein homolog 14) is encoded by the ATG14 gene and located on chromosome 14 in humans. Also known as ATG14L or BARKOR (Beclin 1-associated autophagy-related key regulator), ATG14 plays a crucial role in autophagy — a conserved process for recycling misfolded proteins and degrading dysfunctional organelles. Autophagy is induced under nutrient stress and involves autophagosome formation, fusion with lysosomes, and formation of autophagolysosomes. The Class III PI3-Kinase complex (Vps34-Beclin 1) includes ATG14 (type 1) or UVRAG (type 2). ATG14 directs the type 1 complex to the preautophagosomal structure (PAS), essential for autophagosome initiation.
