Target Information
Cytokine that binds to and signals through the IL1RL2/IL-36R receptor, activating NF-kappa-B and MAPK signaling pathways in target cells. Part of the IL-36 signaling system involved in epithelial barrier inflammatory responses, similar to the IL-1 system sharing the coreceptor IL1RAP. Plays a role in skin inflammation by acting on keratinocytes, dendritic cells, and T-cells to promote tissue infiltration and cell proliferation. Induces expression of various chemokines (CCL3, CCL4, CCL5, CCL2, CCL17, CCL22, CXCL8, CXCL1, CCL20) and proinflammatory factors (TNF-alpha, S100A7, inducible NOS). May contribute to airway inflammation and innate immune response to fungal pathogens such as Aspergillus fumigatus.
